-able是一个拉丁形容词后缀able后缀，意为“that can be ~ed，可以被…的”，一般用在及物动词的后面。-able还有一个变体-ible，一般加在拉丁词根的后面。

1．-able直接加在“及物动词”后面

adjustable:adjust (v. 调节) + -able à adj. “able to be adjusted可调节的”；

respectable:respect(v. 尊敬) + -able à adj. “able to be respected可敬的”；

adaptable:suit(v. 使适应) + -able à adj. “able to be adapted 可适应的”；
