名词是表示人、事、物、地点或抽象概念的统一名称。

二、分类（Classification)

1、专有名词（Proper nouns）：指特定的或独一无二的人或物（人名、地名、国家名、景观名等）

2、普通名词（Common nouns）：可分为可数名词（Countable nouns）和不可数名词（Uncountable nouns）

可数名词（Countable nouns）：以数目计算，能划分为个体的人或物（book、backpack、pen、pencil、bottle、table、desk、chair、apple、banana、orange……）

不可数名词（Uncountable nouns）：不能以数目计算，不能划分为个体的概念、状态、品质、感情或表示物质材料的东西。（water、tea、coffee、juice、milk、sand、furniture、equipment、fruit ……）

三、单数可数名词变复数可数名词的规则变化和不规则变化

1）：单数可数名词变复数的规则变化

2）：单数可数名词变复数的不规则变化

1: 以f, fe结尾的特殊可数名词，直接在后面加 s，如：belief---beliefs, roof---roofs, safe---safes, cliff---cliffs, proof---proofs, gulf---gulfs, chief ---chiefs 等；

2: 以f, fe结尾的可数名词，即可以加s，也可以变f, fe为v，再加es，如：
handkerchief---handkerchiefs/handkerchives,hoof---hoofs/hooves等；

3: 以字母oo结尾的可数名词只能加s，如：bamboo---bamboos, zoo---zoos 等；

4: 单词 tooth, foot, goose 等的复数直接变 oo 为 ee 即可---teeth, feet, geese;

mouse 的复数为 mice, louse 的复数为 lice ;

man, woman 的复数为 men, women;

child, ox 的复数为 children, oxen;

5: 复合名词的复数

1): 表示区分性别有man和woman的复合名词且没有联结符的复数，其变化如下： a man doctor----two men doctors；有连接符的复数变化如下：man-eater-----man-eaters（食人者）

2):其他的复合名词只需要改变最后一个名词的单复数即可，如：an apple tree-----two apple trees

6: 外来词的不规则复数形式：analysis---analyses; crisis---crises; basis---bases; thesis---theses; medium---media; phenomenon---phenomena; datum---data; hypothesis---hypotheses; criterion---criteria等等

7: 单复数同形的可数名词：fish, sheep, deer, means, series, species等

8: “某国人”的复数形式：中日不变，英法变，其他s加后面！

意思是:

中国人/日本人的单复数是一样的；

英国人（Enlishman）/法国人(Frenchman)的复数分别是Englishmen/Frenchmen;

而美国人、德国人等的复数直接在后面加上 s 即可，如：an American---two Americans, a German--two Germans

四、不可数名词量的表达方式

不可数名词也可以量化，比如：

一张纸---a piece of paper， 两张纸---two pieces of paper;

一杯牛奶---a cup of milk , 两杯牛奶---two cups of milk;

值得注意的是，不可数名词的量化不在名词本身，而是在前面的量词前面，如上述例子中的piece--pieces/ cup---cups，类似的量词还有a bag of, a glass of, a pair of等等。
